So, I woke up to everyone still in bed so I did the most unlikely of things that I do on a typical Saturday, I slept! :O I'm still on my martial arts schedule of knowing which classes would be taught at that present moment. However, I finished writing my journal and updating the blog for Friday. Nikki woke up and corrected my Trinidad word & food spellings!
So Andre picked us up and he dropped us at the mall to get food. Nikki and I planned to eat there while Andre picked up some stuff, but he ended up being to quick. We had simply managed to sit down and were called to come back out and eat in the car. Luckily, I wasn't rushed. On the way, we heard a car speed by with loud music and learned of the Doppler Effect: the effect produced by a moving source of waves due to the expansion/compression/distortion of the waves produced. Then we discussed the possibility of aliens. Why? Well, in early civilizations, where the only way to document was on rocks, there were constellations with exact distances. Now we wondered, how is it possible? Unless there was a civilizations with technology that we are not aware of. Someone time traveled? Or, aliens! Interesting conversation on the way to Aripita Avenue. Trinidad has a lot of different type of architecture due to colonization and different cultural influences. In this part of town, everything looked French and even had French Restaurants. We then continued to Andre's School the Queen's Royal College which had architecture of the Victorian Style. The set-up of the science building intrigued me the most: the younger grade levels have their labs upstairs whereas the higher grade levels have their labs downstairs. The set up of the School The Queen's Royal College was beautiful. After this we proceeded to the Magnificent Seven which are a set of big homes of old architectural basis, which the Anglican Pope or High Political Officials live. We also so The Savannah which is the largest roundabout in the world at 260 acres of land! The plan was to see the botanical gardens, however, it is dry season so they did not look to great! But we went to the Emperor Valley Zoo. I got to see white tigers, tigers, lions, lioness, cougars, monkeys, alligators, crocodiles, fish, and many more. But the best part was that for the first time ever, I got to hold a Boa Constrictive snake! Wohoooooo :) After the zoo, Andre took us up to Lady Young Road Lookout Point where I got some beautiful pictures of Trinidad! Andre got picture crazy :) but I learned how to hold and use a professional camera as my battery died at the zoo. I also used up one sid card of videos and pictures. Good thing I took an extra! So, backup batter, athletic tape to take on the next trip as add-ons :) So up here Nikki got me this food called Phoulourie and recommended that I have it without the Mango Sauce. So here I am eating fried flour in a ball and trying and finally after the second one, I stated that the food tastes like and I paused.. and I said "it tastes Indian." They nearly choked on their food laughing so hard. They said the name sounded Indian. hahaha well it tested good. The mango sauce all of us agreed were not the best of sauces. After relaxing, looking at the stars, the ocean, and taking in the cool breeze of fresh air while being with some great people, we returned home. We chatted a bit more on the way back. The question that we built conversation on was the following: If you could have a dinner with any 5 people, dead or alive, who would you select. What are your thoughts? This question was created by a youngen, a genius, who after your response, provided an analysis of your personality. This really gave us some in depth insite into culture, personality, relationships, politics, philosophy, and religion. It was fun! When we reached home, her mom had prepared home made bread and Bhuljol (salted Codfish, with veggies, onions, and olive oil). Then for dessert, it was sweet bread. I learned that the fruit is pre-food colored. The food was yummy!!!!!!! Of to bed. Tomorrow we have to wake up early to go to Tobago!!! Wohooo!!!!
