The joys of traveling and the happiness of a proposal
To and from Atlantic City:
So upon returning to the United States, I was very well rested. I went immediately back to work the next day (Tuesday) and Taekwondo (Wednesday). I figured if I forced myself to engage in activities, the easier it would be to overcome the jet lag. However, the test of my resilience to exhaustion would come with a long drive to Atlantic City. I was unable to go on Friday due to work however, my youngest sister and I left in the rental car on Saturday 9/24/11. Firstly, the guy and the rental dealership did not believe that I was of legal age to drive the car. Then my sister and I left at 5 AM to avoid traffic. I couldn't believe that the cost of tolls was so high! And the toll to Atlantic City was 50 cents where as all the rest were 1 dollar or more!
My sister and I had fun along route because our parents, my sister and Dhaval were so worried that we would never make it, because you know we don't know how to follow directions or anything, nor have I ever traveled. HAHAHAHAHAH... So every hour practically all 4 of them were calling, wondering, where are they!!!!!!!!!!! So we told them we got lost and are near Philly; and Dhaval freaked out, ready to find out where we were via his phone application. However, we told them we were kidding.
My sister and I had bonding moments and while she tried to stay up in our adventure to Atlantic City, the better part of the first half of the trip was left with her sleeping. Along the way, there was a fork in the road and my phone GPS stated it could not locate a map for where we were and the directions were not coinciding with what was present. So we ended up asking a guy in the car next to us who directed us on what we thought was the right path, however, unfortunately, the signs were whited out.... I kept driving till I found a gas station where we used the bathroom. The worker was Indian and spoke to us in partial Hindi/English, and off we were on the road to Atlantic City. We parked and met my sister, her roommate, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend's sister. My sister had planned a birthday bash for Dhaval (her boyfriend) and he was planning to propose to her; only those of us present (except my sister) and the parents knew of the proposal occuring! So he took her onto a platform that overlooked the sea and proposed and of course she says yes and that she isn't looking nice for it!
After the proposal we went to the hotel rooms to await the arrival of everyone, and enjoy the good news via alcohol, and since alcohol wasn't allowed up, we had to sneak it in, different people each time. Of course, I was dealing with a cough and cold and simply wanted to relax and take a walk... my sister and Dhaval thought I forgot where the car was parked, and I stated it is in the upper left part of the garage on this floor, about three cars down from the elevator facing the ocean, and voila, we found the car with the correct description of its location. I didn't gamble, or go out, because Amrita (the youngest) and I wanted to leave latest by 8 AM the next day as she had to go back to college and I wanted to avoid traffic. And yet again, the phone calls came, where are you, are you okay? etc... but we made it and the reaction was priceless as our parents gave me a hug and was like "wow, you made it!!!" hahahaha... so a trip to Jersey made me get more sick, but no more jet lag!
